#atproto Searched the Bluesky docs, but couldn’t find anything about rate limits for embedded posts. But since I put together a system for users of my blog to easily include embeds, I’m seeing sporadic loading failures that seem to be rate limits, when the embed.js code runs.

We’re not. But the pollsters have a formula they follow for identifying people to poll and they are likely easily penetrated and corrupted. Nearly 1 in 5 GOP primary voters are saying no to Trump. If that number holds for the general, it could be a landslide.

So a criminal with 88 charges (interesting number), who his closest administration aides say was a disaster, who screamed “Lock her up” at Hillary about classified information while stealing a large number of highly classified secrets, who was labeled worst president in a survey of academics and historians and whose ignorance is on display daily is still treated as a serious candidate to lead the country..

I’d say WTF but that doesn’t even come close to my feelings.

I’ve been invited to a number of get-togethers with ex-coworkers. But I’ve declined knowing how many are FOX news viewers and supporters. One on one they act like normal, compassionate people. At the same time, they support the bigotry and hate coming from the right wing.

So I don’t attend because I can’t even.

It’s simple: they don’t think it’s true.

To them the “American way of life” is something entirely different, something with lots of stratification and an understanding that the better should not be concerned with the lesser. In their own objective understanding, they’re the better ones…those that don’t have the dosh to back up that assertion are no longer temporarily embarrassed millionaires but potential millionaires crushed by a woke conspiracy.

There have always been two Americas: the country of immigrants striving for a more perfect dignity for each person; and the country that builds reservations and plantations and longs for newer, sleeker ways to bind people to a treadmill . This isn’t north and south, or red and blue, but an interlace so tight that the people in the next apartment can live in the other America.

You can call 911 and be visited by cops from that other America in any major blue city. You can cross the border just by deciding that maybe, this time, it’s okay that the homeless are getting swept and all their possessions stolen…it’s sad but this is the street you walk on. That little tingle of schadenfreude when a bad thing can imagined to be punishment of a person you dislike? It’s a signal from the part of your brain that is from that other America. Our Founding Fathers are their Founding Fathers: philosophers of human freedom that built institutions to facilitate owning humans beings.

Donald Trump, though, is already the president of the latter America. The one with bullets coated in pig’s blood for the foreigners and no pity for the hippies and blacks getting suffocated by a cop’s knee. A man that promises open bending of the system is exactly what they want…no, it’s exactly what they deserve…because people were never equal, and axiomatically they’re the deserving. Donald Trump is collecting their debts and their interest: he will get them two pounds of flesh, by God.

But let’s be clear, Trump has crossover appeal. Both Americas are comfortable treating the concept of international accountabiliity with contempt: we have a palisade of ICBMs to keep that from happening. Both Americas want cheap shit, lots of cheap shit, and don’t want to think about how that cheap shit comes about. Both Americas have cultivated the skill of not-seeing and not-remembering: it’s inconvenient for both to recall how many people thought Calley did nothing wrong, but for different reasons.

Looks like the corrupt leadership in Yexas is violating the very laws it put in place. to make any common space on the campus a free speech zone, where worries about what MIGHT happen could not be allowed to determine what the response should be.

I expect everyone who is arrested to likely get off because of the violations of not only Federal 1st Amendment but also state laws that the GOP got passed.

I had bumper stickers for Biden and PA Democrats who all won statewide races - Casey, Shapiro, Fetterman. At a traffic light on PA Route 202, midday, just above the Delaware state line, the man in the car behind me tapped his horn just enough to get my attention. The light changed, he roared past me on my right, his left arm out the open driver side window, waving the white power sign again and again.

Those stickers all got scraped off.
